What’s Really in Your Glass? Why you need to service your water purifier at regular intervals?
A Story from My Friend’s Life that can Change How you see your water purifier and most importantly the water in it.
It started with a cough — nothing serious, just a little tickle every morning after his daughter drank her first glass of water. Like most parents, he brushed it off at first. Kids get colds. But when it didn’t go away after weeks, he got worried. Doctor visits followed — everything came back normal.
He looked at the water purifier in his kitchen — the one he trusted every single day — and realized it hadn’t been serviced in over a year. No filter changes. No cleaning. Just silent, assumed safety. That’s when he called me.
Not for a repair but for a consultation about what actual is IN there in the tank of his water purifier. He said, “Bhai, just check the water. Please. I don’t know what else to do.” So I personally went over with my testing kit. We tested the input — borewell water, already high in TDS. Then we tested the output — the water his daughter had been drinking for months. The TDS was off the charts. The pre-filter was black with sludge. FR was blocked resulting in RO membrane was barely functioning as it should. The system was running, yes — but it wasn’t purifying. It was giving him a false sense of security. Since the FR was blocked, the purified water in the tank had 523 TDS reading.
I remember the look on his face when I showed him the results. Not anger. Not blame. Just quiet horror.
That night, he told me he couldn’t sleep. How many glasses had she drunk? How long had she been breathing in that damp, bacteria-laden environment from the mist of a contaminated purifier?
That moment changed everything — for him, and honestly. And for me too, that just a blocked FR could lead to complete failure of the water purifier system and still the user can't even know that there is fault as everything still runs AS IS except the change in outcome. It's scary.
That RO systems need maintenance, not just installation. And here’s the thing — a poorly maintained RO is worse than no RO at all. Why? Because it gives you a false sense of security. You think you’re drinking safe water, but what’s coming out could be loaded with bacteria, heavy metals, or even dead filter fibers.
But the hardest truth? Most of us have no idea what we’re drinking.
We trust the machine. We trust the brand. We trust the guy who said “It’s fine.” But water isn’t something you can afford to trust blindly. It’s something you need to know.
And that’s where Aquaflit comes in.
We didn’t go to his house to sell. We went to test, to explain, to fix. We replaced the filters, revived the system, set up a maintenance plan. We showed him how to read his purifier like a doctor reads a report — not just “is it working?” but “is it working right?”
Today, his daughter’s cough is gone. The doctor hasn’t seen her for months. And he doesn’t wait for problems anymore. He gets his water tested at regular interval. He changes filters on time. He treats his purifier like what it is — a guardian of health.
Because clean water isn’t just about removing dirt. It’s about knowing what’s in your glass. It’s about protecting the ones you love — one sip at a time.
It’s about realising that water isn’t just water.
● It’s what keeps your child’s throat clear.
● It’s what protects your parents’ kidneys.
● It’s what gives your skin its glow, your hair its strength.
And if you don’t know what’s in it, you’re gambling with the most essential thing your body needs. That’s why I now insist on regular water testing. On timely filter changes. On expert service — not just someone with a wrench, but someone who understands water.
And if you’re a parent, a caregiver, or someone who values health, you shouldn’t have to guess.
That’s why I do what I do.
That’s why Aquaflit exists.
Because when a friend calls you, desperate, asking, “Is my child drinking safe water?” —
you don’t give them a brochure.
You give them truth.
You give them clarity.
You give them peace.
And that’s not just service.
That’s responsibility.
I’ve spent the last few years working closely with water purifier owners — families, offices, even restaurants — and what I’ve seen is both shocking and predictable. People spend thousands on a purifier, then spend almost nothing maintenance, except unless the purifier tap goes dry. They complain about bad taste, low flow, or white deposits in the kettle, but never connect it to a clogged filter or a dead UV lamp.
You need to change that. So what’s the solution?
Start caring.
Not just about buying a purifier, but about maintaining it.
Get your water tested — at least once in 2 months.
Change filters on time — yes, even if the water tastes fine.
Service your RO like you service your car.
Because your health isn’t a “maybe later” project.
And let’s talk about ionizers. A growing number of people in Bangalore are investing in Kangen and other alkaline water machines — spending lakhs, literally. But most have no idea how they work, how often they need cleaning, or why pre-filtration is non-negotiable. I’ve seen ionizers fail in under a year because the input water wasn’t filtered properly. Sad, preventable, and expensive. Treat your ionizer with the utmost respect it deserves. These are precision devices. They need expert hands, not trial-and-error fixes from the guy who came in for a tap repair.
At the end of the day, clean water isn’t a luxury. It’s the most basic thing we need to survive. Yet we spend more time researching smartphones than we do understanding what’s coming out of our kitchen taps.
